Black Drum

Hot bite and happy crew! Ricardo and I headed out to Ten Thousand Islands during fall for a late afternoon session. The weather started clear but clouds were building with storms possible later. We launched our 2.5-Hour Youth-Focused Coastal Trip with Kids Time Fishing, targeting the productive flats in this prime fishing area.

With our gear rigged and ready, we focused on sight fishing and light tackle fishing in the shallow waters. Ricardo hooked into a solid Black Drum that put up a great fight on the light tackle setup. The Ten Thousand Islands flats are perfect for this type of shallow water fishing, especially when y'all can spot fish cruising the clear water. We had tight lines and steady action working the area before those afternoon clouds rolled in. The bite was hot and we wrapped up with smiles all around!

If you're looking to get your kids on the water down by the glades, our Naples Florida Kids Fishing Charter is perfect for young anglers. The Ten Thousand Islands offer some of the best shallow water fishing and sight fishing opportunities in Southwest Florida. Our youth-focused trips use light tackle that's perfect for kids to handle, and the flats fishing here consistently produces Black Drum and other species. We offer flexible start times to work around your schedule, whether you want an early morning adventure or a late afternoon trip like Ricardo's.
